Becoming a member
We would love you to join Trafford libraries!
Membership of the library service is free. You can join at any branch of the library by presenting proof of your name and current address (dated within the last 3 months). There is no minimum age for joining, but those under the age of 18 years require a parent or guardian to assist with the application by acting as a guarantor.
Register online
You can join the library online by clicking on the button below after you have read and accepted the membership conditions. You will still need to call into one of our libraries to complete your membership within 4 weeks of your application. You just need to bring in proof of address dated within the last 3 months (for example a bank statement or utility bill.) We can then give you your library card and let you know all that our libraries have to offer!
Conditions of membership
- Please bring your membership card with you to borrow items in the library.
- You can borrow most items for a three week loan period.
- Once you are a Trafford library member you can borrow and return items at any Trafford library.
- Items can be renewed up to 8 times at any branch or over the phone, unless someone else has placed a reservation on it.
- You can place reservations on items of our stock at any Trafford library or over the phone and you can choose the most convenient library to yourself to collect it from.
- You can access your library account online to browse our extensive stock catalogue, check your loans, place reservations and renew items.
- If you are 16 or over you can sign up for our Open + facility to have access to several of our libraries outside the usual opening hours. This allows you to use the library for extra hours each week, outside staffed hours.
- If you have given us your email address you will receive reminders free of charge for any items that are due back in the next few days or any items that are overdue.
- Any items lost or damaged whilst in your care must be paid for.
- If you change your name, address or email address please notify us so we can update your records.
- Please report any lost cards.
- Membership details are confidential and will not be disclosed to other parties.
