Arthur Booth was born in Flixton on the 27th February 1890, the son of James Booth, a farmer. On the 1911 census he is described, aged 21, as a joiner living with his parents, James and Annie, and a sister, at 25 Moss Field, Flixton. He married Annie Marshall Gee on the 5th July 1913 at St Luke's Church Winnington.
