The Old Market Place with view of the cab-stand looking towards Broadheath. Many of the buildings around the Old Market Place date from the Georgian period, at least as far as the facades are concerned, but older buildings may be incorporated into the offices and shops photographed here. Whitwham's shop selling tea and coffee was established some time before 1898 and survived until at least 1939. The building may date from the 17th century, and contains timber framing within its fabric.
