Records of abstract of accounts, ledgers, poor and general rate books, valuation lists, notices of vacation of properties, rate arrears, summonses, rate demands, improvement grants, private mortgages, finanacial regulations.In 1834 the system of relieving the poor which included the sick, the unemployed and the old was changed.Parishes were grouped into unions, having a central workhouse and a common fund. Originally in the Chorlton Union the Township of Urmston and Urban District was created by Lancashire County Council on the 28th June 1894, after a public inquiry held at Patricroft on 29th May 1894. The Urmston townships agreed to the formation of the Barton Union. The Guardians of the Barton Union were responsible for the building of Park Hospital which was transferred to Lancashire County Council in 1929 at the end of the Union's life. Partington and Carrington were included in the Altrincham Poor Law Union area. Urban Districts were part of the County Council Structure Urmston in Lancashire, Bucklow in Cheshire. They had at their heads a Chairman rather than a mayor. The order providing for the amalgamation of the Townships of Urmston and Flixton and part of Davyhulme was made by the Minister of Health on the 18th March 1933
