Photocopied notes of the company originally known as Manchester Ediswan Company Limited, Manchester and District Edison Light Company was formed in May 1882. It was later re-formed as the Manchester Edison Swan Company and worked from premises in Broadheath, Altrincham where in addition to doing contracting work, dynamos and switchgear were also made.
