The corner of King Street and Chester Road, which was known formerly as The Cross, from the time when the old cross stood there. The inn shown is the Bishop Blaize, which was demolished in 1863 and the Talbot Hotel built on the site. The first licensee in 1780 was a Thomas Siddall and in 1790 John Worthington until 1800 and in 1812 the landlord was J. Kent.
