Book
Why did Erika Falck's mother keep an old Nazi medal? This question continues to torment her daughter, so she finally decides to visit a retired history teacher to learn more. But the man behaves strangely and doesn't give her clear answers. Two days later, he dies. After much hesitation, Erica begins reading her mother's war diary and discovers that she experienced true horrors. It was because of these drastic and sad events that she was unable to connect with her daughters. From the diary, Erica also learns that during World War II, her mother was involved with the same youth group as the murdered teacher. Is it possible that Erika's visit set in motion the chain of events that led to his death? And who would go to such lengths to keep these past affairs from coming to light?
