The site of the former Warwick House (on the corner of Oakfield and Ashton Lane) in the 1960s. Warwick House was a private residence from the mid 19th century and Warwick House Farm was the base for the Lancashire Hygiene Dairies 1939/40. During 1950s it became the offices for the DHSS until new offices were built on the corner of Cross St and Dane Rd.
