The unveiling, after refurbishment, of the stocks, situated in the wall of St Martin's Church, Church Lane, Ashton-on-Mersey. The stocks, which are over 150 years old, had been vandalised, and the refurbishment was arranged by Sale Civic Society. Shown here, at the ceremony on 11th March 1992, is the Chairman, Mr Jim Young, Mrs Nesta Law, the great-grandaughter of the maker of the stocks and the Mayor of Trafford, Mrs Lydia Burton, Miss Alex Faulkner of Trafford and the builder of the refurbis
