This is one of a series of photographs taken by the Clerk of Works as work progressed on the construction of the Westinghouse building during 1901. The building of Westinghouse was on a massive scale when James Stewart, a Canadian born contractor famous for his quick construction times, took over the project, in 1901, there were less than 250 men working on the site, within a week of his arrival this had been increased to 2,500 and was eventually to rise to 4,000.
