Mrs Crossley's Orphanage, Ashley Road, Hale. Standing on the right-hand side of the bowling green on Ashley Road, Hale, this house was built in 1883 by F. W. Crossley as a police orphanage. By 1913 the orphanage had found larger premises outside the area. The building then became Hale Council Offices. It was demolished in 1970 after the council moved to Halecroft on Hale Road.
