Springfield School Opening, construction of the school began on 30th May 1906. Mr.T.F.Wainwright, Chairman of Sale Education Committee laid the foundation stone and to mark the occasion was presented with a silver and ivory trowel at the school's official opening 13 months later, Mr.Wainwright was given the silver gilt school key. In 1969 boththese items were presented to the Borough of Sale by Mr.Wainwright's son, Mr.E.M.Wainwright
