In Curiosities of Great Britain by Thomas Dugdale one of a new set of maps which very closely copied the G.Cole's maps which had been used to illustrate the 1838 edition of this work. It shows towns (with distances from London) villages, hundreds (numbered on the map), parks polling places, hills, canals, rivers, roads and railways. The railways include The London and North Western main line via Crewe to Warrington, Crewe via Chester to Birkenhead, Crewe via Stockport to Manchester, Manchester towards Sheffield, Stockport to Macclesfield and lines from Church Lawton to Crewe and Nether Alderley. Top left a list of hundreds.Bottom left a table of "Explanation" right, the title and scale. The border is marked by a thick line between two fine ones with a double inner line marked off into degrees and minutes of latitude and longitude.
