In the early part of the 19th century the property now known as Tytesfield was farmland until the locally famous banker mr Samuel Brooks bought the land in 1850 and erected the building. the picture illustrates the rose garden in the 1920s when it was occupied by the Mr Fred Hardy who was born in 1860 as the 2nd son of Mr George Hardy of Hardy's Crown Brewery.
